Colonial pics these Bengal lancers started as Napoleonic cossacs; a turban and proper painting did the thing.
Some of "Queen Victoria's enemies". Beside the well-known Mahdists/muslim warriors, Zulus I here propose: Confederate as Boer (not really new), a Mameluke as some princely Indian cavalarist and a zuave crudely disguised as Egyptian infantryman of the 1880s.
