Dated: 12/31/97, update June 6, 1998.
Here are some more figure conversions sent in by frequent contributor, Chris D'Arcy. These are cast resin figures. These figures were converted from stock 1/72 scale soft plastic figures, generally by switching heads, a two piece mold was made of those 'master' figures then these conversions were cast in resin.
The first three figures are French line infantry in greatcoats.
The toy soldier connoisseur will immediately recognize the components of these figures. The bodies are of course Revell Guard Grenadier bodies and the shakos are either ESCI or Italeri. Mr. D'Arch should be commended on the increasing sophistication of his conversions for if you look closely, you will see that the middle figure is eyes left. This simple touch increases the verisimilitude of the figure amazingly. This simple touch is also very difficult to do on plastic figures as the face has to be facing or be perpendicular to the split line of the mold. The face cannot be at an angle, take a look at your existing figures.
This next set are Waterloo Nassau grenadiers.
The bodies are ESCI's French Grenadiers, a favorite starting point of Mr. D'Arcy's conversions, woe betide the French Grenadiers that fall into his hands. The busbies are Revell Chasseur a Cheval. Again we see the eyes left on the right hand figure.
The following are scans sent in by Mr. D'Arcy. These are French Young Guard figures.
The bodies again are ESCI Grenadiers except for the one which is an Airfix Grenadier. Again, the shakos are ESCI or Italeri French line.
Scans made at 200DPI 100%.
