For an old customer, so loyal in visiting even now the shop was on its decline and but a shadow of its former self, he made a special price of only Hfl 20,00, about equivalent to a mere $10.00. I have boxes in my Airfix collection that cost a lot more!

What an interesting story! And this is just the type for anecdotal stores that collectors love. Many thanks for Mario Wens from Holland who has submitted two other collectors' stories.
As a very small child, my very first memories of Airfix was that they were so precious that the boxes were behind glass display cases and if you wanted one, the salesman had to open the glass case and give it to you. This must have been 1967 or so. About 1977, I saw white boxes for the first time and they were in the display stand that is shown in the black and white photo. The roundel at the top of the display reminds me of the Airfix collectors club, I remember joining it and getting a very nice pin and some literature but nothing else ever!
Finally, $10 is a great price for the display stand, and the collection of blue boxes shown has got to one of the best ones around.
