After our posting of this page on 11/25/99, Mr. Alfred Umhey writes in to further comment on some of the sets in the catalog:
"The Knights (both packs) as well as the ACW artillery and the battlefield accessories WERE released. At that time, both ESCI AND Revell negotiated with ACCURATE, to get their sets. Finally Revell won, despite they were already mentioned in ESCI's catalogue. As this deal collapsed, ERTL lost any interest in the 1:72 figures and cancelled the other news, which were ment to be made in Italy."
Before ESCI stopped production of its figures, it put out it's last catalog with new figures in 1993, tantalizing us with sets that were to come but never did. Many people never saw the last catalog, but with the repeated urgings of a frequent visitor and the help of 3 others, we've finally got them.
Medievals are very popular and these 100 Year War sets would have been a great hit. Had they been released I think these would have come before the Revell/Accurate sets. With the release of the Italeri Cruader and Teutonic knights sets many more knights are available but collectors are always still asking for more in this era.
Hmmm..... How coincidental..... The Punic Wars are now filled by a range of HäT figures, and to be honest, this era couldn't have really been filled by just 2 boxes of figures.
Another modern set by ESCI. This was 1993 so you know what this war was. The rockets remind me of Atlantic's rockets.
ESCI declined to give the real name of this set, so we won't comment either.
