Diorama from a relatively unknown part of the battlefield. Papelotte was on the eastern side of Waterloo.
Notes from the author (dated Nov 5, 99)
Papelotte and La Haye have been part of the left flank of Wellington in the battlefield of Waterloo. Prince Bernhard of Saxe-Weimar and his Nassauers defended the farms against General Duruttes 4th division. Right now it is not known, if Durutte has ever conquered the farms. We - me and my friend Juergen Friese - have rebuilt the farm Papelotte with plaster and wood and parts of the houses from La Haye Sainte and Hougomont (from Jens Najewitz). The size of Papelotte is 40 x 40 cm.
Papelotte was a great farm with barns and walls. It was similar as Hougomont as a fortification for Wellington's left flank. At nineteen o`clock the first corps of the Prussian army arrived at Papelotte on the battlefield. During the fight Papelotte has been destroyed by a fire.
