First released in 2001, set 8058 represents some of the many allied and mercenary peoples who supplied much of the manpower of the Carthaginian armies. The set includes Gauls, Celtiberians, Lusitanians and Libyans, each retaining their own distinctive weapons, equipment and fighting traditions. Carthage drew troops from across North Africa, Iberia and the western Mediterranean, creating armies remarkable for their diversity. Under commanders such as Hannibal, these very different peoples fought together against Rome throughout the Punic Wars. Brist’s colourful figures beautifully capture the varied appearance and character of this unusual collection of Carthaginian allies.
