First released around 2001, set 8038 depicts the artillery of the Kingdom of Bavaria during the Napoleonic Wars. Bavaria was one of Napoleon’s principal German allies and its well-trained army served in campaigns across Europe, before changing sides in 1813. The set includes six artillery crew figures carrying out a variety of gun-handling duties, together with a cannon of simple four-piece construction: two wheels, carriage and barrel. Brist’s beautifully painted battery brings this early HäT set to life, with the distinctive blue uniforms and active crew poses creating a vivid scene of Bavarian artillery in action. The dark blue uniforms, red plumes and pale blue-grey gun carriages stand out beautifully against that gloomy battlefield setting.
