Here is contribution numero 2 from Mr. Steve O'Connor. Please click on the thumbnails to see the bigger picture.
"A couple of new shots. This week's theme is WW1 French troops. I have made a small effort to try and make the photos appear as 'period' shots. These are all 1/72, Hat and Revell figures."
This one simulates a typical French WW1 poster - which often used a comical font in a red/yellow color. Photo shows French troops emerging in the early hours of the morning from the one of ruined villages around Verdun to advance against Le Boche! The bugler sounds the call to arms. Blow this one up to full screen, and use it as your desktop wallpaper at work.
Same French infantry, moving out of their dugouts to cross the wire. The flag calls out silently to all loyal Frenchman to join the fray !
Later in the morning, after the failure of the initial assault, French infantry resume the defence of their shattered Village, somewhere near Verdun.
.
As evening falls, a French hotchkiss machine gun crew man the high ground. Their piquet duty will see them keep watch over the position throughout the entire night.
French machine gun crews maintain a vigilant watch through the long and dark night. During the night,
"Observation flares cast an errie glow over the French machine gun post".
"Hope you enjoyed the series. Next week, I will present a similar report from the opposing German trenches, featuring the 100% Hat pickelhaube'd 17th (Bayerische) infantry regiment."
Many thank to Mr. O'Connor for this new and different contribution.
