Here are more pictures from our anonymous contributor from France who wishes simply to be known as"P" for now. (Webmaster's notes in parenthesis)
Type 4a 1975 (The Grandaddy of them all. Airfix's first set, the Guard's band was discontinued early and only appeared in the front window and blue edge boxes, it never made it to the white box.)
Type 7 1984 (SAS was made in 1/32, but never in 1/72.)
Type 4a 1975 (Another early set, # 6 Civilians were never made in the white box, only front window and blue edge.)
Type 2a 1968 (Certainly interesting and different, 007 was a kit or a proposed kit and nothing else.)
Type 4a 1970 (Ditto, as a kid I thought those space rangers would have been nice, and yup, Connery was the best.)
Type 4a 1975 (About the last of the blue edges and was never made as a white box.)
Type 4d 1978 (Ditto.)
Type 4a 1975 (Tarzan, like RHA was only a blue box and nothing else.)
Type White Label 1960's (The Commandos is one of Airfix's stranger sets. It came in an early and late version like many of the early sets (though this is set #32). What is strange is that though the 2nd version followed the first version, the most recent re-release of the Commandos is the 1st version, the 2nd version having disappeared. This box cover is apparently an alternative of the blue edge boxes which never appeared on the market.)
Type 2a 1968 (I think the Pikemen was a 1/32 kit. Too bad it didn't make it into 1/72 plastic, it would have been a popular set. A side note: If this set was actually made, I doubt that it would have contained 48 pieces as the long pikes would have taken up too much room. It probably would have contained 30 to 33 pieces.)
Type 4a 1975 (Ditto, in a white box.)
Type 4a 1975 (Another popular would have been.)
Type 2a 1968 (Ditto in the blue edge box.)
Type 3 1974 (Made only as the white and tall boxes.)
Type 2a 1968 (Another set made only in 1/32. Franz Beckenbauer is shown prominently, wonder if they had to pay him a royalty, sorry, my meager knowledge does not extend to that English great on the left. I also wonder about the 43 pieces as that would have contained 2 teams plus reserves and enough for all the hanger-ons. Speaking of HO/OO soccer figures, does anyone remember Subbuteo?)
Many thanks to "P"!
