My first gunboat, still unarmed, was just to experiment some scratchbuild techniques. The model I made was loosly inspired by the "Cunene", a Portuguese gunboat from the beginning of the XX century who fought in the river with the same name in Angola.
I liked the side paddle wheels and the sleek hull and decided to chose it as a base for my future model.
This scratchbuild model is nearly 35 cm long and 8 wide and is made from pasticard, a couple box lids, remains from kits or plastic bits, thread and very little more. It required 1/3 2mm thick plastic card and 2/3 of 1 mm card, instant glue, "green stuff", paint, rulers, scissors and sand paper. The result, with a soldier inside for scale purposes, is a small boat ready to receive all the small items as guns, stowage, crew, etc.
However, as I didn't take any pictures while building the boat, and we cannot be short of gunboats, my next contribution, is how to build a new boat.
