David Berta here from South Australia, saying 'hello' to all Huns, Croats and Australians who contribute to this site!
Here are some pictures of my Mahdist army / horde so far. This is part 2 of my Sudan War piece, part 1 was sent in earlier showing the British, but we all know the Mahdists are just as cool if not cooler! First thing, some figures are once again from another manufacturer but I needed to bridge the gap in time between getting some cool literautre on the topic and HaT releasing their 'Dervish infantry'. Second, Some bases have 5 figures instead of the normal 4, this is my rules-set where 'mobs' have more men in the group- this is commonly the inclusion of a banner bearer in this setting and say, more soldiers for other periods like Carthage v Rome: Ligurian Infantry etc. Anyway, enjoyed painting these models just as much as I did convertng them! And how I enjoyed that! I made the Mahdi using a Taashi Camelery Rider (sorry on the spelling) and some figures from your Robin Hood set which make PERFECT slaves, cut their weapons off and position them near cannons and it looks like they are steadying them and pushing them! The most recent addition was the Dervish Infantry of which I still have so many more to do (looking stressfully back into my figure cabinet!). Can't wait for the release of the El Cid era Moorish cavalry to convert into cavalry for this era as well as some way to make Bazi Bashku (sorry on the spelling, I'm talking about the Turkish mercenaries). All hail her majesty's enemy, the Mahdi and his mischief horde...
Many thanks to Mr. Berta.
